United Soccer League (USL) club owners voted on Wednesday for a promotion and relegation system, marking the first time the European-style system would be implemented in the United States.

The United Soccer League confirmed plans to launch a Division One men's professional league in 2027 defined by the sanctioning standards of the U.S. Soccer Federation, rivaling Major League Soccer.

Brazil great Ronaldinho has joined the ownership group behind United Soccer League (USL) clubs Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty, the teams announced Wednesday.

USWNT and Juventus winger Tim Weah has joined the ownership group of Brooklyn FC, which will operate women's and men's teams in the United Soccer League.
